FREE Creative Workshops in Nature

What an incredible day we had yesterday (Wednesday), on our 2nd art workshop in nature. The weather was perfect, the location was beautiful and wow! what a great bunch of people to be out with. The group tripled in size from our 1st workshop last wednesday, which was amazing.

We all met in the Wellsbourne Community Garden at 10am and headed off to the South Downs via mini bus, expertly driven by Dan from the Hera Partnership. We started with a short ramble over the South Downs lead by Lucy Mitchell & Beav-Art by Ian Leaver-Blaxstone and rummaged for anything we found that would look nice on our nature mobiles, we were making that morning. Once we found a spot to settle down as a group, some of us started to string all the pieces together on our nature mobiles, whilst the rest of us took some rubbings from nature, on paper to add to our abstract pictures from last week.

We then had a quick lunch and headed off into the direction of Southease village, whilst completing our photography project Dan had put together, based on the 3 principles of ‘foreground interest, unusual perspective or viewpoint & considering a series (i.e. Triptych)’

For some of us the morning was active enough and we were able to take time to relax in the cafe in the afternoon while the rest of the group enjoyed the photography walk

After the slightly longer afternoon photography walk, we headed back to the mini bus and arrived back at the Wellsbourne Healthcare CIC Community Garden at around 4pm.

This workshop was so well received by everyone involved. How they felt so relaxed and calm. Time didn’t really matter so much, as there was no sense of urgency. We took a slow and steady walk throughout the day and rested at points to just sit and take it all in. It was surprising how sitting outside amongst nature, creating different types of artforms could really energise you, boost your happiness and put a big smile upon your face. I think one quote of the day that stuck the most was when one person from the group said: ‘I’m so glad I came, I really needed this’.

It’s not too late to join up to our creative workshops in nature. We have our final workshop coming up on Wednesday 2nd August in the Wellsbourne Community Garden from 10am – 12pm. to secure your place book now at: [email protected] or call on: 01273 712175.

We’d love to see you there.

Additional note: All the nature art created and photos from the workshops will soon become part of an exhibition shown at Wellbn & Wellsbourne Healthcare CIC (details on this tbc).
