Volunteers wanted for ambitious arts project

Hydrocracker Production Company

‘ACROSS THE WAY’

ACROSS THE WAY is a community arts and training project set up by Hydrocracker in association with Wellsbourne Healthcare CIC. It is part of an ongoing relationship to involve East Brighton residents in high quality arts projects for fun, skills, interest and wellbeing.

‘We tell ourselves stories in order to live’ – Joan Didion

‘Inside each of us is a natural born storyteller waiting to be released’ – Robyn Moore

ACROSS THE WAY is all about stories: East Brighton stories. The real ones, from real people, that so often don’t get heard. We want to support volunteers with connections to their community to help us gather and record local stories.

Could that be you? Read on!

As a volunteer, you will:

  • receive a 2 hour workshop with Hydrocracker in on early October, learning how to find and record the stories
  • spend a few hours during- October recording stories from community members
  • work with Hydrocracker at the end of October choosing and shaping stories for inclusion in the project

You will then have the option of continuing to work with us in November on developing, recording, and editing the stories into an audio headphone digital experience.

To sign up or find out more, please come to the Wellsbourne Health Centre on Sunday Sept 26th which is the Late Summer Garden Party. Gather at 4pm at Wellsbourne Healthcare Information Stall to meet with Paul Jarvis-Beesley (Community Manager at Wellsbourne Healthcare) and Hydrocracker’s Jem Wall who is an actor (Game Of Thrones, Dr Who, Call The Midwife) and Hydrocracker’s director.

They will be happy to tell you more and answer any questions. If you can’t make the date but want to know more please contact [email protected].
