Wellsbourne Community Garden Update

The garden has been sprouting a blanket of dandelions, the leaves are edible as are the flower heads – you can boil them up and strain them and add sugar to make a syrup. The roots can be dried and ground to make a coffee.

We watered the potatoes and planted dahlias and weeded the thistles from the tulip beds and in between the cobbles.

It was lovely to sit under the shade in the sunshine and admire the garden. The herbs are looking healthy and the strawberry plants are starting to flower.

We also found a little chafer grub in the soil, it will grow into a chafer beetle.. apparently it will look like a mint humbug.

Please come and help in the garden. We are here in the Wellsbourne Community Garden between 2pm and 5pm every Wednesday.
